Binfield have a new striker

BRACKNELL BEES make their first competitive game at The Hive under Scott Spearing when Basingstoke Bison come to town on Sunday evening.

The Bees kicked off their NIHL Division 1 South campaign with a come-from-behind 7-5 win over MK Thunder last weekend and they are on the road again on Saturday, travelling to bogey side Peterborough Phantoms.

And in a weekend double-header, Bracknell then welcome Basingstoke to Berkshire on Sunday at 6pm in the National Cup.

On the football field, the majority of our sides are playing away from home.

READING make the short trip to Brentford on Saturday, aiming to bounce back from defeat against Bristol City last weekend.

Royals could welcome back Jordan Obita and John Swift following injury but Liam Kelly is a doubt with a calf problem.

BINFIELD could hand a start to striker Ian Davies, following his midweek move from Woodley United.

Davies, who has previously played for the Moles, netted twice against his old club as the Kestrels beat them 3-2 earlier this month.

But with Danny Langford leaving the club for personal reasons, Roger Herridge has moved to bring Davies back to Hill Farm Lane.

Binfield travel to face Fairford Town in the Hellenic Premier Division.

In the same league, WOODLEY go to Oxford City Nomads for the second week in a row, having lost 3-1 there in the FA Vase last week.

Sumas are in cup action

WOKINGHAM AND EMMBROOK are in cup action with a trip to Langley in the Berks and Bucks Senior Trophy.

Back in league action, Combined Counties Division One leaders EVERSLEY AND CALIFORNIA host Kensington Borough, looking to recover from two cup defeats last week.

There is some local home interest in the Thames Valley Leagues with FINCHAMPSTEAD hosting Reading YMCA Rapids while HURST and WOODLEY UNITED ROYALS are on the road in the BBFA Senior Cup.

In rugby, LONDON IRISH kick off the sporting weekend with a Friday night visit to Sale Sharks.

The Exiles lost 37-7 at Exeter Chiefs last time out and have a quick opportunity to bounce back at AJ Bell Stadium (8pm).

We spoke with Alex Lewington to look ahead to the fixture.
