A PROGRAMME that encourages pupils at a Wokingham school to boost their confidence, resilience, self-awareness and communication skills is celebrating its latest success.

Last week, 18 Holme Grange students graduated from the Finding Futures programme. Over the pasty They had been working with Yes Futures, an award-winning education charity, for six months, developing their confidence, resilience, self-awareness and communication skills.

The school said that the students have progressed enormously since September, demonstrated by a confident presentation they gave to parents and teachers at the graduation ceremony.

Students have had regular coaching sessions with experienced Yes Futures Coaches who have encouraged them to set challenging targets and develop skills which they can continue to use after the programme.

Alongside the coaching sessions, the students helped with conservation work at Lavell’s Lake, enjoy a residential trip where they took part in raft building and making a giant swing.

They also visited Hewlett Packard in Bracknell where they developed their own ideas for a new HP product and pitched this to HP staff

The winners came up with an innovative multifunctional watch.

Jo Cooke, Head of Prep School, Holme Grange School, said that the inaugural Finding Futures scheme had been a big success.

She added: “It has been a really great experience and I feel that many of the children have gained enormously from their participation of the programme.”
